In view of Jake’s extensive and challenging comments could it be that Shavit in his chapter on Existential Challenge sets the stage for a follow-up discussion?  Shavit’s drift strikes me as a barb to alert us to Iran.  Would a discussion of Iran be appropriate now?  Just wondering.  Jim
